Powertrain Testing Specialist

We are in search of skilled Propulsion Test Technicians with expertise in Powertrain and/or Vehicle component assembly. The ideal candidate will be driven, eager to acquire new skills, and possess a strong desire to excel in their role.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Vocational qualifications in mechanical or electrical engineering are preferred, though substantial experience will also be taken into account.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Powertrain and/or Vehicle component assembly.
- Flexibility and the ability to learn in practical settings.
- Capability to work independently.
- Maintaining accurate and traceable documentation.
- Proficient use of appropriate hand and power tools for manual tasks.
- Strong awareness of health and safety protocols (Detailed electrical safety training will be provided).
- Hands-on knowledge of vehicle systems.
- Understanding of Powertrain systems testing (Engines/Transmissions/EV/Hybrid).
- Experience with testing operations for EV powertrains or Hybrid systems.
- Familiarity with AC and DC electrical systems.
You will be engaged in delivering projects for prominent OEM and tier 1 clients, focusing on product research, development, and durability assessments. Projects will encompass combustion engines and transmissions. As part of a versatile and responsive workforce, you will have the chance to work on hybrid systems and electric propulsion (eMotor, eAxle, ePowertrain, and Battery).
Your role will involve supporting propulsion test programs on a shift schedule alternating between early and late shifts from 06:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00, Monday to Friday. Additional weekend overtime may be necessary to meet customer demands and deadlines.
Key Activities:
- Responsibilities include mechanical and electrical rigging, fitting, and operating test systems, along with general engineering tasks in the workshop.
- Conduct fitting and testing on engines, transmissions, hybrid systems, EVs, or components according to project specifications, ensuring compliance with customer directives.
- Oversee the operation of multiple test rigs using established test methods and protocols.
- Carry out test and development activities, including comprehensive reporting.
- Assist in implementing and adhering to safe working practices.
- Maintain test bed records and all pertinent forms, data sheets, and logbooks.
- Follow procedures for the requisition of store items and assist in managing stock or consumable items as needed.
- Ensure all instrumentation utilized is calibrated according to company standards.
- Provide necessary information to fellow test technicians and other involved personnel to facilitate smooth shift transitions.
- Support the resolution of customer complaints by recommending and coordinating appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
- Contribute to the investigation and implementation of departmental efficiency enhancements.
- Identify issues and faults as they arise and take the initiative to propose solutions.
