The Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the SENDCo and class teachers to provide tailored support to students with a range of needs, including learning difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech and Language difficulties, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities
  1. One-to-One Support: Provide personalized assistance to students with SEND, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
  2. Classroom Support: Assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive learning environment, adapting resources, and delivering differentiated activities.
  3. Communication: Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff, ensuring clear communication about progress and any concerns.
  4. Progress Monitoring: Observe and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  5. Behavioral Support: Implement behavior management strategies to support students in maintaining positive behaviors.
  6. Personal Care: Assist with the personal care needs of students when necessary, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
Requirements

Experience working with children with SEND in an educational setting is essential. We are looking for someone with patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs. Strong communication and teamwork skills are also essential. The ability to remain calm and flexible in a fast-paced environment is crucial.

A commitment to promoting the inclusion and well-being of all students is essential. Desirable qualifications include experience with specific SEND strategies or interventions, such as PECS, Makaton, or Team Teach, and a Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
