About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Worker to join our Crisis Recovery Service team at Mental Health Matters. As a Peer Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing practical and emotional support to individuals experiencing mental health difficulties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work alongside clients to achieve their personal goals and support them in their recovery journey.
  • Offer responsive support to clients through face-to-face, virtual, and telephone-based interactions.
  • Support clients in accessing statutory support, including psychological interventions, and develop a good working knowledge of community resources and partner organizations.
  • Provide a sense of hope and wellbeing, and support clients to gain a sense of control over their lives.
  • Help clients engage with and build connections to their local communities, and gain satisfaction in different parts of their lives.
  • Live the values of Peer Support as described in the PSW Competency Framework 2020.
Requirements
  • Experience or knowledge of community mental health services, whether through lived experience or work.
  • Ability to demonstrate careful listening and a non-judgemental attitude when working with people to understand their needs and aspirations.
  • Capacity to support people's self-management and place the person at the heart of their own support, working alongside them to achieve their goals.
