As a Manufacturing Process Specialist, you will oversee and execute engineering capital initiatives, guiding them from initial design through to commissioning and operational phases, ensuring safety, timeliness, and budget adherence.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage engineering projects of varying scales, ensuring compliance with business requirements and applicable regulations.
- Deliver commissioning strategies in alignment with project timelines and financial plans.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and site management to achieve targeted plant enhancements.
- Act as the primary coordinator for continuous improvement efforts, partnering with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to implement effective enhancements.
- Develop and present business cases for operational improvements to senior leadership.
Project Engineering and Management
- Champion site safety and lead by example.
- Identify and propose site improvements and opportunities for review.
- Support the Engineering Project Director as needed.
- Apply the company’s Project Management Methodology to assigned capital projects.
- Prepare comprehensive project documentation, including scope definitions, cost and time assessments, and execution plans.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure timely project support and involvement.
- Mitigate risks associated with project scopes through initial assessments.
- Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) as required.
- Implement defined project scopes for Capital Expenditure (CAPEX).
- Generate and maintain health and safety documentation in compliance with relevant regulations.
- Provide regular progress reports, including financial tracking and milestone achievements.
- Coordinate with site construction supervisors to support on-site project execution.
- Facilitate the handover of completed projects to internal stakeholders, including necessary documentation and training.
- Ensure timely and budget-compliant completion of commissioning phases.
- Track and resolve project snagging lists.
- Offer technical support to plant operations as needed.
- Stay informed on new standards and maintain professional development.
- Contribute to the establishment of technical standards within the organization.
- Conduct internal safety and quality audits.
- Participate actively in the on-site Emergency Response Management team.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead the identification and prioritization of plant improvements in collaboration with manufacturing and maintenance teams.
- Coordinate continuous improvement initiatives across relevant teams.
- Support root cause analysis efforts using standard methodologies and ensure action items are addressed.
- Implement and oversee continuous improvement projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
Competencies Required
- Engineering: Proficient in project management best practices and able to liaise effectively with engineering disciplines.
- Review engineering deliverables for quality and consistency.
- Understand chemical process engineering fundamentals and engage with Process Engineers throughout project stages.
- Familiarity with process equipment and modern DCS systems.
- Knowledge of Process Safety Management elements.
