Job Title: Community Staff Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Community Staff Nurse to join our team in Northampton. As a key member of our School Nursing team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to children, young people, and their families.

The successful candidate will be responsible for working in an integrated skill mix team, collaborating with Practice Assessors, Specialist School Nurses, Health Visitors, Healthy Child Practitioners, Nursery Nurses, and School Nurse Assistants. You will be expected to support a range of service delivery under the direct and indirect supervision of a SCPHN School Nurse or Health Visitor.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing in-depth health assessments, immunisations, and health education to children and young people
  • Leading group psycho-education sessions, including wellbeing workshops, parent and child interventions, continence clinics, and drop-in services
  • Working with children and families to promote healthy lifestyles, emotional wellbeing, and healthy growth and development
  • Participating in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives

We are looking for a candidate who is flexible, adaptable, and able to work autonomously and as part of a team. You will be supported in practice by an administration hub that provides a single point of contact for the 0-19 service.

NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health, and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. We value staff development and offer training and development opportunities to help you achieve your potential.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse qualification
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Evidence of teaching and mentoring experience
  • Contraception knowledge and experience

Person Specification:

  • Team and interagency working experience
  • Awareness of clinical supervision and child protection issues
  • Understanding of clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement
  • 2 years post-reg experience
  • Previous experience of community working and delivering immunisations

  • Flexibility to meet the needs of the service
  • Car driver with ability to travel countywide
