Job Description

Thames Water is seeking a highly skilled Senior Control Engineer to join our Systems Catchment and Operation team in London. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting the strategic control manager and production teams in planning and optimizing the operation of our water supply system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Optimization and Planning: Assist in the development and maintenance of control strategies to ensure the optimal operation of the London supply system, including weekly, monthly, and annual supply/demand planning.
  • Asset Management: Work closely with water production and network teams to ensure overall optimum system performance, and collaborate with asset management and capital delivery teams to ensure new assets meet performance requirements.
  • Outage Planning: Maintain and facilitate the outage plan to ensure large assets can be removed from service for maintenance and statutory inspection without impacting water quality or supply to customers.
  • Supply/Demand Balance: Assist in maintaining weekly and annual production plans to ensure optimal system operation, and conduct supply/demand mass balance studies to determine system resilience.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support and risk assess permits to work on the supply system.
Requirements:
  • Industry Experience: Relevant industry experience or a degree in a relevant field, such as water resources engineering or a related field.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills with an innovative approach to communicate with a range of stakeholders.
  • Water Operations Experience: Water operations experience would be beneficial, and health and safety competency is essential.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze key performance data from SCADA and PI systems.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with water production and network staff to ensure overall optimum system performance.
