Reclamation Engineering Specialist

Location: ST ASAPH, UNITED KINGDOM

Position Overview:

We are excited to announce a new role within a prominent technology firm located in North Wales. Excelitas Technologies specializes in the design and production of photonic products and solutions that cater to a diverse array of markets and applications. We are seeking a Reclamation Engineering Specialist to enhance the STAS Repair Cell, focusing on identifying cost-saving opportunities and minimizing waste through the reclamation of unserviceable or damaged items.

This position is integral to the STAS Team, engaging in various operational functions to ensure excellence in operations, high productivity, and the achievement of customer satisfaction KPIs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the receipt and verification of inventory in accordance with company protocols, ensuring all processes are executed correctly and products are accurately stored.
  • Perform visual inspections and Functional Test and CES Check (FTCC) upon receipt of all primary equipment and selected spare parts, documenting the results.
  • Assess and reclaim, where feasible, all items and stock designated for the waste/reclamation stream.
  • Exhibit a proactive approach to problem-solving, effectively engaging with both internal and external customer needs and providing solutions to inquiries.
  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of various products for mechanical and electrical characteristics, compiling detailed reports.
  • Execute checks and inspections against established standards, drawings, and specifications set by both the company and customers.
  • Identify and propose opportunities for process enhancements, cost reductions, and waste minimization.
  • Establish a waste management area and process, focusing on continuous improvement and growth.
  • Provide maintenance and repair services, collaborating with onsite resources to optimize waste stream operations and address engineering inquiries to maintain equipment functionality with minimal expenditure.
  • Ensure all inventory is securely stored, handled, and transported in compliance with company policies, security protocols, and health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with team members to uphold a clean and organized workplace environment, consistently meeting company and legal standards.
  • Adhere to all ISO and Health and Safety regulations, taking reasonable care of personal safety and that of others, ensuring compliance with all safety and quality systems, and reporting any incidents or suggestions.
  • Be prepared to work overtime as necessary to meet business and customer demands.

Candidate Profile:

Essential Qualifications:

  • A solid educational background (minimum of C grade or above in Maths and English at GCSE level).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • An inquisitive mindset, willing to challenge existing processes to drive cost efficiency and waste reduction.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Experience working both collaboratively in a team and independently.
  • Ability to obtain full SC Clearance.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Familiarity with MOD Dismounted Soldier Systems.
  • A technical background with strong analytical and practical skills.
  • Experience working within dynamic project teams and employing structured problem-solving techniques, along with the ability to provide detailed reports on findings.
  • Capability to collaborate with other engineering disciplines regarding product specifications and performance issues.
