Position: Play Support Worker
Starting hourly rate: £13.52 plus an additional annual leave contribution
This role is situated within a dynamic environment dedicated to enhancing the lives of children and young people with disabilities.
As a Play Support Worker, you will collaborate with the group leader to create a secure, engaging, and enjoyable play or leisure setting for children and young individuals with disabilities. Your responsibilities will include encouraging participation in group activities, fostering social and intellectual development, and promoting the use of various resources and activities.
Our short break services offer essential support to young people with disabilities residing in the Kingston and Richmond boroughs. We conduct group sessions during after-school hours, weekends, and holidays, as well as provide one-on-one support in the community and assist young people in accessing mainstream clubs.
Key Responsibilities
- Advocate for the voice of the child/young person
- Provide support to children with disabilities
- Facilitate engaging play and prepare activities
- Assist young people with personal care and mobility needs
- Maintain a safe, organized, and clean environment
- Create a welcoming atmosphere for all
- Work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Administer medication as trained, including emergency medication
- Adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures
- Document daily reports related to activities
- Follow established policies and procedures in alignment with Achieving for Children
