About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Production Operative to join our team at our site in Gurney Slade. As a Production Operative, you will work closely with other operators and their reports under the direction of the Assistant Works Manager to achieve plant objectives in the areas of Safety, Environmental, Recovery, Quality, Reliability, Production, Efficiency, Cost Reduction, and Innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the safe and efficient running of the Site, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all staff, visitors, and members of the public around all areas of operation.
  • Handling of materials around site milling, bagging, transport, and loading of finished and raw materials.
  • Adherence to local and government legislation and company policy on health and safety.
  • Ensure all tasks are sufficiently risk assessed and safe systems of work developed, and suitable control measures implemented.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operation of equipment to ensure the safe and efficient operation of that works.
  • Operate the plant to deliver optimum productivity, efficiency, quality, and performance to required standards.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and routine inspections are carried out across the area of responsibility.
  • Responsible for the efficient execution of orders in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Have responsibility for the recording and management of stock.
  • Play an active role in OEE to improve efficiency within the business unit and the wider company.
  • Closely monitor the quality of raw materials and finished products and all testing involvement within the Operational Efficiency programme.
  • Minimise all business losses as reasonably practicable.
  • Reports all damage and monitors waste tipped and reports data to Works Supervisor.
  • Undertake reasonable tasks as allocated by the company in addition to those defined.
  • Operate the site in an environmentally responsible manner and comply with company procedures and statutory regulations.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

  • Forklift Truck Licence.
  • Loading shovel licence.
  • Knowledge and competence of health and safety principles.
  • To be flexible in your approach and to the duties of your job.
  • Good level of communication skills.
  • Experience with manually intensive industry.
