About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Optomechanical Systems Engineer to join our team at Kleboe Jardine Ltd. As an Optomechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and development of innovative optomechanical assemblies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expertise in the design and development of optomechanical products, ensuring they meet stringent demands and tolerances.
  • Initiate, manage, and participate in internal and customer-facing projects to develop new optomechanical products, aligning with the company's Roadmap and Strategic Goals.
  • Engage with the supply chain to ensure seamless product manufacturing from prototype phase to production rollout.
  • Develop designs for optomechanical assemblies incorporating state-of-the-art freeform optical elements, and create alignment procedures and test regimes.
  • Support product manufacturing, providing technical support to the production line for optical assemblies, and identify new equipment and processes required to improve manufacturing and metrology capability.
  • Drive design for manufacture, and provide technical support to key quality assurance gates in the product release process.
  • Capture documentation supporting consistent product executions, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team to execute the product and technology roadmap.
Requirements
  • Essential requirements:
  • Experience with optics mounting or optomechanical systems, with a strong understanding of thermal and stress calculations modeling.
  • 4+ years of experience in the industry, with the ability to operate semi-autonomously at a senior engineer level.
  • Confident user of Autodesk Inventor CAD software, and experience with full project lifecycle from concept to production.
Desirable Requirements
  • Experience with Autodesk Vault document management tool or similar, and COMSOL skills.
Personal Skills and Abilities
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to deliver to deadlines.
  • Strong team worker, with careful measurement and analytical skills, and a good eye for detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, and manual dexterity.
Qualifications

BSc/MSc/Ph.D. in Mechanical engineering, Optics, Photonic & Optical Engineering, Physics, or other related subject areas.
