Job Summary

The ideal candidate will possess excellent clinical skills, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to work independently in a fast-paced environment. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, managing clinical areas, and contributing to the development of clinical policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Responsibilities
    • Deliver high-quality, compassionate care with a focus on promoting health, self-care, and independence.
    • Carry out specific delegated clinical tasks and responsibilities to a competent standard.
    • Work without direct supervision (where appropriate) within designated parameters of practice of the Practice Nurse role, accessing clinical and care advice when needed.
    • Recognize issues relating to safeguarding vulnerable children and adults and report any problems or raise concerns to the appropriate registered care.
    • Exercise professional accountability and comply with practice policy in relation to the safe administration of medicines.
    • Use electronic records to record the outcome of assessment and evaluation of care.
    • Assist in the assessment of and management of risk across the environment where care is being administered.
    • Assist with the implementation and monitoring of clinical standards and outcomes.
    • Develop a working knowledge of other providers' resources and referral systems to ensure individuals' needs are met, within parameters of practice.
    • Demonstrate good understanding of principles of consent and ensure valid consent is obtained prior to undertaking nursing and care procedures.
    • Demonstrate a good understanding of the Mental Capacity Act/Deprivation of Liberties and apply principles to everyday practice, seeking advice/guidance from Registered Nurse or another registered professional as required.
    • Deliver effective care following plans determined by the registered nurse or other registered care professional and provide feedback on progress against the plan.
  • Administration
    • Contribute to and participate in audits, evaluation, and clinical standard setting within the Practice.
    • Accurate and timely summarizing of patient records and read-coding patient data.
    • Complete all required paperwork for legal and administrative purposes in accordance with relevant standards.
    • Ensure that all practice policies are fully implemented.
    • Work in accordance with all governance and internal systems relating to the management of clinical data and systems.
Person Specification
  • Experience
    • Understanding of the scope of the role of the Practice Nurse in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organization, and how the role may contribute to service development.
    • Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code.
    • Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice.
    • Understand requirements for NMC professional Revalidation.
    • Understanding of the importance of following procedures and treatment plans.
    • Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
    • Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate.
    • Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information.
    • Ability to take part in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities.
    • Ability to organize and prioritize own delegated workload.
  • Desirable
    • Minimum 2 years experience in general practice.
  • Qualifications
    • Practice Nursing Degree.
    • Registered on the NMC register.
    • Cervical sample taker qualification and updates.
    • GCSE Grade A-C in both Maths & English.
