About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Leasehold Enquiry Officer to join our team within the Home Ownership department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Right to Buy (RTB) scheme, leasehold alterations, lease extensions, enfranchisements, ad hoc sales, party wall matters, and other requests/changes requiring landlord's permission and payment of a premium.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise tenants on the RTB scheme and ensure applications are processed within statutory timescales.
  • Process all applications from leaseholders around alterations in accordance with good practice and to protect the Council's building asset.
  • Responsible for advising leaseholders on voluntary and statutory lease extension and to manage the process.
  • Manage the process where owners of flats in a building, and sometimes part of a building, join together to buy the freehold of that building.
  • Manage all ad hoc requests to buy additional space.
  • Ensure statutory regulations and the Council's decision-making process and contract regulations as set out in the Constitution are applied and adhered to.
  • Be the main lead on the contract between the Council's and its appointed valuation consultant.
About You

We are looking for an experienced professional with a strong background in leasehold management, customer service, and communication skills. You should have a deep knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Housing Acts, Landlord and Tenant Acts, Section 42 of the Leasehold Reform Housing and Urban Development Act 1993, and the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act.
