Position Overview

Clinical Quality Assurance Leader

We are pleased to present a significant opportunity within the Integrated Governance Unit. Collaborating closely with the Assistant Director of Integrated Governance, the Corporate team, and Divisional leaders, you will spearhead and enhance clinical governance across the clinical divisions within our organization.

We seek a visionary, empathetic, and supportive leader who will cultivate a proficient team dedicated to achieving the Trust's objectives and aspirations concerning governance.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and advancing a clinical governance management system as part of a cohesive organizational governance framework, fostering a patient-focused, learning-oriented, and safety-conscious culture throughout all services offered by the Divisions.

You will play a crucial role in managing risk at all levels within the Division and will be an integral member of the Divisional Governance Group.

The role involves providing expert guidance to assist the Divisional Management team in meeting quality benchmarks, as well as standards for risk, complaints, and incident management relevant to their specialty. You will also support incident management and investigations in accordance with established frameworks, facilitating the Division's transition to the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework as per organizational strategies. Following the implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework, you will be required to undergo necessary training to lead and assist investigations and to offer support and guidance to colleagues.

You will collaborate within a broader Integrated Governance Team, which includes other Divisional Governance and Quality Managers, with the aim of promoting shared learning. Additionally, you will provide support to the central legal team, as well as the complaints and risk and safety teams, ensuring compliance with key performance metrics.

Job Responsibilities

Qualifications

Essential

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (health studies, management, quality improvement, leadership, patient safety) and/or equivalent professional experience
  • Evidence of ongoing professional and leadership development
  • Qualification in computer-based project management

Desirable

  • Registered healthcare professional
  • Management or leadership qualification or equivalent experience

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive experience in the NHS or a similar organization in a governance capacity
  • Understanding of the significance and application of external guidance, governance, and improvement initiatives
  • Comprehensive knowledge of operational practices in an Acute Trust, both in community and hospital settings
  • Strong understanding of governance principles
  • Proven success in navigating complex organizations, including experience in policy development and implementation, governance, risk, and complaint management
  • Demonstrated leadership and motivational skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and inspire individuals.

Desirable

  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs
  • High-level analytical skills
  • Familiarity with risk management systems
  • Valid driving license and ability to drive during working hours
