This position is for a personal care assistant to join our client's support team, providing assistance in their own residence.

You will be employed directly by us on behalf of the client, and your focus will solely be on this individual.

All contracts are permanent with a probationary period of 6 months. The role entails working 30-40 hours per week, primarily during daytime hours, including some weekends.

About the Client and Support Required:
Our client is a 32-year-old gentleman with a brain injury and multi-sensory impairment (MSI).

Your role will involve joining the support team to foster positive outcomes for him, ensuring he has the necessary security to access information, communicate effectively, and navigate his surroundings safely.

You will facilitate effective communication and the reception of clear information.

Your assistance will enable our client to engage fully in learning, vocational, and social activities, promoting greater social interaction and community involvement.


You will work closely with the family and professionals involved in our client's daily life, implementing a daily exercise routine aligned with his physiotherapy program.

The objective is to enhance our client's confidence, encourage social connections, and ensure his days are filled with enriching and enjoyable experiences.


You will motivate him to undertake tasks independently, such as meal preparation and general household activities like cleaning and laundry, as well as planning his daily schedule.

The core of this role is to be a reliable, confident, and compassionate support worker, with effective communication at the forefront of your responsibilities.

A qualification in British Sign Language (BSL), along with experience in hand-under-hand signing and Makaton, is preferred but not mandatory.

You will receive training to meet CQC standards tailored to the client's needs. If you are already familiar with the client and possess care experience, this will be advantageous. Previous care experience is not a requirement unless specified otherwise.

Essential Qualifications for This Role:

  • An enhanced DBS disclosure is necessary for this position (cost covered by HomeCareDirect).
  • A solid understanding of the complexities and implications of multi-sensory impairment is essential.
  • You must be a sensitive and effective communicator; a BSL qualification and experience with hand-under-hand signing and Makaton are desirable.
  • Proficient IT skills are required.
  • A full UK driving license is mandatory.
  • Willingness to commit to long-term care for one client in a person-centered manner.
  • Preparedness to be trained to CQC standards to meet the client's needs.
  • Adherence to company policies and procedures is essential.
  • Reliability, non-judgmental attitude, compassion, and responsibility are key attributes.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and treating the client with dignity and respect is crucial.
