About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Calculation Engineer to join our team at EDF EPR Engineering UK. As a key member of our design team, you will play a crucial role in the design phase of the Hinkley Point C project.

Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the integrity of the pipe network design and its supporting structures by performing detailed piping calculations and assessing HVAC and electrical supports for various load scenarios.

Expertise in finite element analysis software is highly valued, and knowledge of Python programming is advantageous for developing specialized tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and oversee the piping network for the Nuclear Island, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform detailed piping calculations and assess HVAC and electrical supports for various load scenarios.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design reports and calculations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of design and construction activities.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technological advancements in the field and apply innovative problem-solving skills to tackle complex engineering challenges.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in mechanical calculations and piping design for nuclear power plants.
  • Expertise in finite element analysis software and Python programming.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest industry developments.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience in previous EPR or other nuclear projects.
  • Knowledge of RCC-M code and CALTUY/Pipestress software.
  • Fluency in French language.
