Job Description

Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organization, is seeking a skilled Contract and Procurement Specialist to join their team. This role will be based in Edinburgh and will involve hybrid working with a minimum of 2 anchor days in the office per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective supplier and contract management frameworks to ensure strong performance and delivery of commitments.
  • Manage and maintain relationships with strategic suppliers, identifying opportunities for improvement and delivering cost savings.
  • Plan and prioritize supplier performance reviews, contract and governance diaries, and liaise with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks, ensuring accurate records and files are maintained and commercially sensitive information is managed in line with information security standards.
  • Provide resolution of disputes and claims, escalating to senior management as necessary.
  • Contribute to the development of procurement strategies, specifications, service level agreements, and contract terms and conditions.
  • Support the onboarding and mobilization of new contracts and suppliers, including CSM support during program execution.
  • Engage with suppliers to achieve organizational environmental and social impact goals, monitoring and reporting delivery against tender commitments.

Essential Skills:

  • Significant experience in contract and supplier management, with a proven track record of delivering value, operational effectiveness, and reduced risk.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Experience in delivering cost efficiency, process improvements, and additional benefits.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve common objectives.
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject.
  • Relevant and recent contract management experience.
  • Good commercial competence, risk management, and strong negotiation skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • Understanding of contract law, procurement best practices, and relevant regulations.
  • CIPS qualification or recognized commercial qualification.
  • Relevant procurement, business management, or law degree.
  • More than 3 years of relevant and recent contract/supplier management experience.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
