We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Social Work Specialist to join our team at Semester as an Independent Reviewing Officer - Safeguarding and Child Protection. The successful candidate will be responsible for chairing Safeguarding Children Conferences, Strategy meetings, Looked After Children Reviews, and other critical meetings to ensure the safety and well-being of children and young people.
Key Responsibilities- Chair Safeguarding Children Conferences, Strategy meetings, Looked After Children Reviews, and Secure Accommodation Reviews in line with statutory requirements and guidance.
- Contribute to the operational effectiveness of the Child Protection and Review service, ensuring effective safeguarding arrangements for children and young people.
- Manage allocated resources in a timely, cost-effective, and performance-oriented manner, challenging and reporting on services that do not meet required standards.
- Monitor the accuracy of information held regarding Children on a Child Protection Plan and Children who are Looked After.
- Conduct audits of work as outlined in our Quality Assurance and Learning framework and Reg 44 visits to Care Homes as requested.
- Play a significant role in improving standards and quality across agencies through influencing the chairing role.
- Participate in regular collection, collation, analysis, and reporting of performance management information to meet the needs of the service area, the wider organization, and service users.
- Undertake individual case management reviews pursuant to Chapter 8, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and represent the service on Serious Case Review Panels.
- Work with and support other services and organizations to ensure a 'joined-up' approach to safeguarding children and take a coordinating role where child protection issues arise.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in social work, particularly in safeguarding and child protection.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
