About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our committee as an Independent Committee Member. As a key member of our governance team, you will play a vital role in shaping the strategic direction of Home Group and contributing to our mission to provide high-quality housing and support services to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend committee meetings and contribute to discussions with your insights and expertise.
  • Review and analyse reports related to the organisation's governance, financial, and operational management.
  • Provide expert opinion, analysis, and advice to enhance decision-making processes.
  • Engage in constructive challenges to existing practices and propose innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate with committee members and the executive team to drive strategic priorities.
  • Participate in training sessions and stay updated on relevant sector developments.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in leadership, management, or regulatory roles in relevant sectors.
  • The skills and experience to help lead an ambitious, innovative, and values-led housing association.
  • Proven ability to work at a strategic level, think creatively, and challenge constructively through the application of your knowledge and experience.
  • Integrity and independent judgement alongside a commitment to the highest standards of corporate governance.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with other Committee Members, Board Members, and Executive teams.
  • Enthusiasm and a desire to make a real difference to the lives of people in our communities.

What We Offer

  • A competitive remuneration package of £3,000 per annum, plus expenses for travel and accommodation.
  • A commitment of between 6 and 8 in-person committee meetings per year in Newcastle upon Tyne.
  • Meetings are mostly during working hours in the afternoons.
  • A tailored induction and development programme to support your professional and personal development needs.
  • A minimum commitment of at least 2 years.
  • An Enhanced DBS check, paid for by Home Group.
