About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Homeless Prevention Early Intervention Officer to join our team at the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and London Borough of Wandsworth. As a key member of our Prevention and Solutions Team, you will play a vital role in preventing homelessness and providing support to those in housing need.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide expert advice on housing issues, including tenancy rights, financial advice, and housing options.
  2. Conduct enquiries to identify risk factors and early intervention opportunities.
  3. Engage with landlords, family members, and housing providers to explore solutions and prevent homelessness.
  4. Verify circumstances and gather information through home visits to support case assessments.
  5. Identify cases that require full homelessness assessments and allocate them to appropriate officers.
  6. Maintain accurate case records and support data collection for various initiatives.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  1. Demonstrable experience in housing or a related field, with a strong understanding of homelessness legislation and prevention strategies.
  2. Comprehensive knowledge of housing rights, welfare benefits, and housing options.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively provide advice and support.
  4. The ability to assess complex situations and identify practical solutions to prevent homelessness.
  5. Proficiency in managing caseloads, maintaining records, and adhering to data protection policies.
  6. Experience of working collaboratively in a team environment and supporting colleagues.
