Job Summary

The Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and skilled Adult Specialist Dentist to join our Community Dental Service. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality dental care to patients with special needs, providing clinical leadership, and mentoring junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver dental services within the GWHFT Community Dental Service contract, including urgent care, special care dentistry, and paediatric dentistry for children with additional needs.
  • Provide clinical leadership to the local team and across the service, promoting high standards of clinical care and patient safety.
  • Mentor and supervise Foundation Dentists participating in an 8-month longitudinal scheme, covering community dentistry, oral surgery, and dental practice.
  • Work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership team to develop and implement service improvements, ensuring excellent patient outcomes and experience.
  • Contribute to the development of the Community Dental Service, identifying opportunities for growth and innovation, and implementing changes to improve service delivery.
  • Provide line management for Band A dental officers, including absence monitoring, supervision of leave and study leave, and annual appraisal.
  • Meet Band B Dental Officer competencies as set out within the terms and conditions of the Salaried Dental Service Contract.
