Job Title: Healthcare Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our team at Livewell Southwest. As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our multidisciplinary team in delivering exceptional services.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting qualified staff in delivering physical, social, and psychological care to patients with mental health problems or illnesses. You will work within a team to implement patient care plans, undertake observations, and record information using the CPA process on electronic patient notes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist qualified staff in delivering physical, social, and psychological care to patients
  • Implement patient care plans and undertake observations
  • Record information using the CPA process on electronic patient notes
  • Provide self-directed, individual activities for specified patients
  • Identify and report any safeguarding risks for patients or carers
  • Participate in the unit-wide response team to ensure safety in the wards
  • Carry out tasks assigned by qualified staff and provide mentorship and support to junior staff
  • Engage with audits, quality improvement projects, and service changes as directed by the ward manager
Requirements
  • NVQ level 3, QCF level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification
  • Care certificate
  • Ability to participate in activities with patients and contribute to the process of delivering high-standard care
  • Basic IT skills and knowledge of mental health, therapeutic approaches, and safeguarding principles
  • Good communication and listening skills, organisational skills, and problem-solving skills
  • Awareness of own limits and boundaries in relation to the job role
Working Environment

The successful candidate will work within a challenging and unpredictable environment, managing dynamic risks and providing care to patients with complex mental health needs. You will be expected to work rotational shift patterns over 24 hours and be able to travel around Plymouth as part of your duties.
