Lead Pharmacy Support Officer

Position Overview
The pharmacy department at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is embarking on an innovative journey to enhance our service delivery, and we invite you to be a part of this transformation. Our team is in the process of integrating advanced pharmacy automation technology and a new medication dispensing and inventory management system. This is a prime opportunity for you to contribute to our mission during this pivotal phase.
We are seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to fill the role of Lead Pharmacy Support Officer. The successful candidate will engage in various functions across our Pharmacy Stores and Dispensary. If you thrive in a dynamic work environment, this position is tailored for you.
Your responsibilities will encompass the replenishment of ward supplies and the dispensing of medications in accordance with patient prescriptions, alongside a diverse range of additional tasks. Our service operates seven days a week, thus flexibility in working hours, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays, will be essential. We have ambitious aspirations for the future of our pharmacy services and are looking for a motivated individual to join our team. Our goal is to establish ourselves as a leading provider of healthcare services.
As a member of our pharmacy team, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality, safe, and effective pharmacy services aligned with the Trust's core values and principles. You will receive guidance from Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians in your daily activities.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete an assessment as part of the interview process.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary duties will include:
- Dispensing and labeling medications for patients.
- Restocking supplies for clinical areas.
- Inputting data into computer systems, including ward orders and patient information, as well as utilizing the prescription tracking system.
- Managing inventory within the pharmacy and clinical settings.
This role involves some manual handling, for which appropriate training will be provided.
Qualifications and Skills
To be considered for this position, candidates should possess:
- A minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including Mathematics and English (or equivalent qualifications), along with an NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or a recognized statement of competence from the General Pharmaceutical Council, coupled with substantial experience in a dispensary setting.
- Essential basic calculation skills.
- Proficient keyboard skills.
- Previous experience in a hospital or community pharmacy is advantageous.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work efficiently within a team.
We seek candidates who are patient-centered, eager to learn, diligent, and capable of performing under pressure during peak times. While experience in a pharmacy is beneficial, it is not a strict requirement.
A flexible approach to the aforementioned duties is necessary, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks, be proactive, collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals, work independently when required, and follow directives accurately.
