About the Role

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a skilled Town Planner to join our client's team in a leading consultancy firm. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering innovative planning solutions across the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, submit, and manage planning applications, ensuring compliance with local and national planning policies.
  • Conduct site appraisals and feasibility studies to inform planning decisions.
  • Liaise with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders to provide expert planning advice and guidance.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of planning strategies for various projects, including residential developments, commercial schemes, and mixed-use projects.
  • Support senior planners in larger projects while independently handling smaller-scale projects.
  • Prepare reports and deliver presentations to clients and planning committees, effectively communicating planning recommendations and outcomes.
Requirements
  • A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline, such as Urban Planning or Geography.
  • A minimum of 2 years of practical experience in a planning role, preferably within a consultancy or local authority.
  • Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation and procedures, including the Town and Country Planning Act.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills, with the ability to effectively engage with clients, stakeholders, and planning committees.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines, prioritizing tasks and managing competing demands.
  • Membership or working towards membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) is desirable.
