Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Functional Safety Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Functional Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the execution of Functional Safety (FS) activities throughout the development phases of the safety lifecycle and Engineering Product Development process.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and Lead: Review the required safety plan deliverables for projects and vehicles, and lead the execution of Functional Safety (FS) activities throughout the development phases of the safety lifecycle and Engineering Product Development process.
  • Support and Guidance: Provide support, guidance, and continuous assistance to engineers in producing functional safety work products, including Item Definition, Hazard Identification, Hazard Analysis, Risk Assessment, and Functional Safety Concepts.
  • Requirements Management: Manage the requirements management system to ensure data integrity and traceability throughout the functional safety lifecycle.
  • Supplier Engagement: Engage with suppliers from the early concept stage (Development Interface Agreement) through to development audits, design reviews, and into launch and production phases.
  • Safety Analysis and Documentation: Present well-reasoned safety analyses and arguments to positively impact design decisions and educate stakeholders, and produce high-quality technical documentation and reports for both internal and external customers.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with NFI Group colleagues to create robust, reusable safety arguments that can be adapted to specific applications.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Engineering Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience: Successfully delivered electrical/electronic development projects as a key team member, with understanding of vehicle electrical systems and controls, awareness of hardware/software quality and management processes, and demonstrable planning and delivery of concurrent tasks and projects.
  • Skills: Proven problem-solving skills, ability to escalate major risk issues that require immediate corrective action by senior management, and understanding of safety analysis.
