Research Scientist in Spatial Epidemiology

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our team in Spatial Epidemiology. As a key member of our research group, you will contribute to the development of cutting-edge models in computational epidemiology, focusing on areas such as spatial statistics, population genetics, and disease surveillance.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and applying advanced AI techniques, such as deep generative modeling, to tackle critical challenges in spatial epidemiology.
  • Collaborating with researchers from various departments within the SPH and prestigious institutions worldwide.
  • Communicating research findings effectively to academic and policy-making audiences through conferences, journal publications, and national/international meetings.
  • Submitting research publications to peer-reviewed journals and actively seeking external research funding.

This role offers a unique opportunity to further develop your skills in a rapidly evolving field, apply cutting-edge methods to impactful real-life applications, and contribute to innovative projects in disease mapping, spatial statistics, and population genetics.

Key Requirements:

  • Practical experience with deep learning architectures, such as CNNs, GNNs, and deep generative models.
  • Familiarity with probabilistic programming languages, such as Stan, PyMC, and NumPyro.
  • Experience working with real-life data, preferably spatiotemporal health data.
  • Version control and GitHub experience.

What We Offer:

  • A sector-leading salary and remuneration package.
  • Funding for travel and conferences, along with access to a wide network of potential collaborators.
  • The opportunity to continue your career at a world-leading institution.
