Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pupil Support Assistant to join our team. As a Pupil Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people who require additional support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support to pupils/children in identified areas of learning and personal development.
  • Contribute to the planning and review process for individual pupils/children.
  • Supervise pupil/child self-administration of medication and provide personal care to enable them to function to their full potential.
  • Implement support programmes designed by visiting specialists, such as speech and language programmes and physiotherapy.
  • Support pupil/child mobility on an emergency/short-term basis and for low-level needs.

Requirements

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Experience of supporting young people with additional support needs.
  • Ability to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of taking up employment and complete the required Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL).
  • Qualifications in Early Education and Childcare or SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) or equivalent.
  • Good IT skills.

Important Information

Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.

As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration.
