Forseven is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our dynamic Engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for our electric vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of design engineers to deliver electrical system designs and harnesses to project timelines
  • Provide technical guidance to the team on design and packaging issues
  • Represent the Electrical team in packaging and gateway reviews
  • Design and develop wiring harnesses and electrical components using Catia V5/V6
  • Manage BOM content of owned parts and ensure packaging of electrical components within design guidelines
  • Lead internal Packaging meetings and technical review meetings
  • Support electrical design review meetings with suppliers and other stakeholders
  • Release responsible parts, including child parts, and manage design issues through the company tracking system (JIRA)
  • Develop CAD databases and libraries as required
  • Manage design issues through the company tracking system (JIRA) and ensure closure of tickets
  • Develop and create 2D drawings as required
  • Check and approve 2D drawings in line with 3D designs
  • Support mechanical DV work and support the build as per released CAD design
  • Own the design from concept through to production
  • Support DFA/DFM reviews with harness suppliers and manufacturing plant
  • Support project engineers with packaging guidelines, including installation and fixing requirements
  • Create fixation strategies for electrical components and harnesses
  • Manage EBOM and component maturity/attributes via 3DX platform

Requirements:

  • Deep understanding of Automotive New Product Development Process, milestones, and deliverables for each phase
  • Demonstrable experience of automotive electrical wiring harness design and power distribution system design, development, and manufacture
  • Good experience and knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, ECUs, and other electrically wired components
  • Experience in design for good electrical and EMC performance
  • Knowledge of hybrid and full-electric electrical vehicle architectures and wiring systems would be advantageous
  • Extensive experience of using CATIA V5 or V6
  • Desirable experience in circuit design, wiring/fusing systems, and electrical packaging
  • Excellent understanding of 2D drawings and electrical circuits
  • Experience in creating Harness Change Requests and managing the implementation of changes through design release and suppliers
  • Understanding of harness re-works and interrogating vehicle circuits
  • Hands-on experience of minor electrical reworks is highly desirable
  • Experience of system/component delivery within an APQP, six sigma, or similar framework (FMEA, quality planning, PPAP, etc.)
  • Experience in leading DFMEA and System (Electrical Interface) Reviews
  • Experience in managing harness complexities, component databases (DTs)
  • Working knowledge of relevant regulations and standards
  • Experience in harness testing and validation process and engineering sign-off
  • Ability to use various engineering development tools and collaborative platforms such as Microsoft Office 365
  • Good contacts within the EDS supplier ecosystem, including Tier 1 and component suppliers
