Position: Youth Homelessness Support Specialist

Location: South Tyneside

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week, including evenings and weekends)

Salary: £24,136 per annum plus pension & additional benefits

About the Role

As a dedicated Youth Homelessness Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in assisting young individuals facing homelessness in the UK. Under the guidance of a manager, you will manage a caseload of clients while ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals involved in the service.

Your responsibilities will align with the organization's commitment to effectively achieve the desired outcomes for the community.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee a caseload of young individuals requiring pre-tenancy assistance or homelessness prevention support to attain housing and well-being goals.
  • Engage in community outreach through drop-in and scheduled sessions at various venues.
  • Collaborate proactively with multiple agencies, including statutory teams, to enhance the well-being of clients while adhering to data protection and information sharing protocols.
  • Coordinate with internal departments such as Finance, HR, Fundraising, and Business Development to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Encourage client participation in education, training, employment, and volunteering opportunities to foster skill development and personal growth.
  • Ensure a safe environment for clients, staff, visitors, and volunteers through regular risk assessments and compliance with health and safety policies.

About You

The ideal candidate will possess experience in managing support services, particularly with young individuals facing complex mental health challenges. You should demonstrate the following skills and qualifications:

  • Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and developing support plans.
  • Strong literacy, numeracy, and IT capabilities.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding protocols and procedures.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity and equality, ensuring respect and dignity for all.
  • Dedication to maintaining a safe environment for all stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage challenging situations effectively.
  • Exemplary personal and professional integrity.
  • Deep understanding of professional boundaries and the ability to uphold them.
