Community Maternity Care Assistant
Position Overview
This role presents a unique opportunity for dedicated and enthusiastic Community Maternity Care Assistants to become integral members of our Maternity Team, focusing on community-based care.
You will receive comprehensive support as you transition into your position, and we are committed to fostering the professional growth of our staff to ensure outstanding care for families in our region.
Key Responsibilities
We are seeking a community-oriented Maternity Support Worker who is passionate about providing care throughout a woman's maternity experience in both home and clinical environments. This vital position involves assisting women, birthing individuals, and their families during the antenatal and postnatal phases, collaborating closely with the midwifery team to offer education, support, and care in community settings. The safety and well-being of our clients and their infants are our top priorities, and we are looking for compassionate, caring, and motivated individuals to join our team.
As a member of the community team, you will occasionally work autonomously and will be required to travel to various locations to visit families in diverse settings.
About Our Organization
We encourage all candidates to ensure they meet the essential qualifications outlined in the person specification, as this is crucial for completing pre-employment checks.
Our organization provides healthcare services from multiple acute facilities and community hospitals, ensuring comprehensive care across a wide range of settings.
We actively encourage applications from individuals with disabilities and those from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds, as these groups are currently underrepresented in our workforce.
It is important to note that we are unable to offer sponsorship for healthcare roles that do not meet the minimum salary requirements, and candidates must have the right to work in the United Kingdom.
Job Duties
We are looking for team members eager to enhance their skills and knowledge, with numerous opportunities available within our organization. This is an exciting time to join our Maternity family.
You will receive strong support from our dedicated staff, who are committed to quality improvement in care. We are confident that you will find a fulfilling role within our Maternity services.
The responsibilities of a Community Maternity Care Assistant include assisting with the daily operations of the community team, which may involve administrative tasks; therefore, familiarity with computer systems is advantageous. You will visit clients in both clinical environments and their homes to provide a variety of antenatal and postnatal support, including assistance with infant feeding. Additionally, you will participate in parent education and discussions on health promotion, with a strong emphasis on public health initiatives.
Essential Skills
Key attributes for this role include being a collaborative team player, demonstrating commitment, kindness, approachability, dependability, and reliability. Practical skills should encompass the ability to take manual blood pressures and perform venepuncture. A solid understanding of key public health messages related to smoking cessation, healthy lifestyles during pregnancy, and infant feeding practices is desirable.
A valid driving license or the ability to travel independently is essential for this position, as you will be required to work autonomously at times.
