Job Title: Head of Computer Science Department

We are seeking an exceptional leader to join our team as the Head of Computer Science Department at Archway Learning Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the Computer Science Faculty, ensuring that our students receive a high-quality education in this subject area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the Computer Science Faculty, ensuring that our students receive a high-quality education in this subject area.
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for the Faculty, aligning with the Academy's improvement priorities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the Faculty, ensuring that targets are met and students make good progress.
  • Exercise professional skills and judgement in leading, managing, and developing the designated areas of the curriculum.
  • Implement the Teaching and Learning framework of the Academy within the designated curriculum area, including staff CPD.
  • Systematically monitor, review, and evaluate policy and practice within the Faculty.
  • Be highly respected and able to motivate others to lead, develop, and enhance the continuing professional development of the department.
  • Liaise effectively with Year Leaders to embed the Behaviour for Learning policy across the Faculty.
  • Implement whole Academy policy and practice.
  • Create a distinctive learning environment within the designated area of the school that inspires students.
  • Contribute to whole Academy and wider community development.
  • Undertake professional duties and administrative tasks as reasonably delegated by the Principal.
  • Participate in whole Academy planning and policy making.
  • Attend staff and other Academy committees and meetings.
  • Liaise with appropriate agencies outside of the Academy, e.g. LA advisors and inspectors, industry, business, and the wider community.
  • Have oversight of the Faculty budgets and expenditure.
  • Line-manage a significant number of staff, including the leadership and support of the staff team.
  • Support and enhance the social, moral, spiritual, and cultural development of students, both within the designated area and across the school.
  • Responsibility for the monitoring of all examination entries and the ongoing review of accreditation opportunities.
