About the Role
The UCL Ear Institute is seeking a highly skilled and experienced academic to lead our research in complex otology and auditory implantation. As a Professor of Otology and Auditory Implantation, you will be responsible for defining and leading the Institute's research strategy in this area, ensuring that it remains internationally competitive.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a programme of research in basic, translational, and clinical aspects of complex otology and auditory implantation.
- Build collaborations and robust channels of communication with basic scientists and clinical teaching staff at the Ear Institute and other relevant UCL departments.
- Maintain continuous external funding for research and drive the development of multi-disciplinary collaborative bids.
- Be recognized as a leader in the field internationally through highly-cited publications or membership of esteemed bodies.
Teaching and Education
You will provide outstanding clinical training and education to students and junior colleagues, and contribute to developing new courses in areas of clinical or research specialty.
Leadership and Strategic Development
The post holder will have a strong track record in senior academic leadership and strategic planning. You will contribute to the institutional life of the Ear Institute and the Royal National Ear, Nose & Throat Hospital, particularly through leadership of initiatives to increase collaboration between basic scientists and clinicians.
Clinical Responsibilities
You will deliver high-quality patient care and contribute to the development of innovative service models. You will also undertake clinical duties as agreed with the Divisional Clinical Director.
Requirements
- PhD in a relevant field.
- Experience in complex otology and auditory implantation.
- Strong track record of research outputs and funding.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
