Job Title: Support Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at Sunbeam House in North Shields. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting Norman and Hilary, two individuals with Down Syndrome, autism, and learning disabilities, to live their best lives.

About the Role

As a Support Worker, your primary responsibility will be to provide one-to-one support to Norman and Hilary, enabling them to participate in activities they enjoy, such as watching TV, listening to music, and going on outings. You will work closely with the team to develop and implement personalized care plans that cater to their unique needs and preferences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one support to Norman and Hilary, promoting their independence and autonomy.
  • Assist with personal care, including bathing, dressing, and toileting.
  • Encourage and support Norman and Hilary to participate in activities they enjoy, such as arts and crafts, music, and outings.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to develop and implement personalized care plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of care and support provided.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

  • Patience, empathy, and compassion when interacting with individuals with disabilities.
  • A strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Makaton and moving and positioning techniques.
