As a Social Worker Degree Apprentice at South Gloucestershire Council, you will have the opportunity to complete a BSc Hons Degree in Social Work and progress your career by becoming a Social Worker. This role allows you to make a positive impact on the lives of adults, children, carers, and families, supporting positive change and promoting well-being.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Completing a BSc Hons Degree in Social Work through a highly supportive and experienced training provider, The Open University.
  • Developing your skills and knowledge in social work specialities, including adults, children, families, and mental health.
  • Participating in rotational placements to gain experience working in Children's services and Adults services.
  • Undertaking a practice-focused work-based learning module, including a defined period of assessed practice learning.
  • Completing a choice of four core option modules and a final practice-focused work-based learning module.
What We Need From You:
  • A minimum qualification in GCSE/Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths at grade C or 4 and above.
  • Employment at South Gloucestershire Council for a minimum of 30 hours per week, with a permanent contract of employment and successful completion of probationary period.
  • A valid right to work in England for the entire duration of the apprenticeship.
  • Employment in the following fields of work: Social Work Assistant, 0-25, Family and Support Services, Occupational Therapy Assistant, or Personal Advisor, with at least one year of experience by the application deadline date.
  • A full valid driving licence with regular access to a vehicle or alternative appropriate means of travel.
  • IT competence through self-declaration.
