Job Title: Trading Standards Officer - Consumer Protection Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Trading Standards Officer to join our team at Brackenberry Ltd. As a Trading Standards Officer, you will play a crucial role in protecting consumers and promoting fair business practices in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate Consumer Complaints: Conduct thorough investigations into consumer complaints and provide guidance on consumer rights and responsibilities under civil and criminal law.
  • Liaise with Partners: Collaborate with partners, including outside contractors and other organizations, to deliver the Trading Standards Service effectively.
  • Support and Train Officers: Provide support, motivation, and training to officers, including students, to enable them to carry out their duties effectively.
  • Weights and Measures Inspector: Undertake duties required by legislation to be performed by a Weights and Measures Inspector to assist the Council in meeting its statutory obligations.
  • Lead Officer: Manage and act as a lead officer for the Service in nominated specialist areas, including monitoring the relevant budget and producing project work action plans.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in Trading Standards: Hold a Diploma in Trading Standards or equivalent qualification.
  • Food Safety Legislation: Be qualified to enforce Food Safety Legislation.
  • Weights and Measures Inspector: Be qualified to perform the duties of a Weights and Measures Inspector.
  • Experience: Have experience of working in a Trading Standards environment for a period of 12 months.
  • Consumer and Business Disputes: Proven record of working with consumers and businesses to resolve disputes and secure compliance.

Requirements:

  • Availability: Be available to work immediately or at short notice.
  • Right to Work: Have the right to work in the UK.
