Role OverviewColas is seeking part-time HGV Cat C (Class 2) drivers, equipped with CPC, to serve as Zero Hour Winter Maintenance drivers. The role involves being available for work during the winter maintenance season.
Drivers are expected to maintain daily availability throughout the winter maintenance period. Compensation includes a fixed daily rate, regardless of operational requirements, along with hourly pay for hours worked. Flexibility to respond to weather-related callouts is essential.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Winter Maintenance Drivers will be engaged on a temporary basis to support the winter maintenance operations. Responsibilities include:
- Operating a Winter Maintenance Gritting Vehicle during the winter season.
- Being on standby throughout the winter maintenance period, with punctuality being crucial.
- Executing the gritting of roads along designated routes and performing related tasks, such as vehicle maintenance and record-keeping.
- Collaborating with team members to ensure the safety of the network during winter conditions.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- A full UK driving license with HGV Class 2 (category C) entitlement and a valid CPC.
- A Winter Maintenance qualification is advantageous but not mandatory, as training will be provided for suitable candidates.
- The ability to reach the designated depot within a short notice period.
