As a Winter Maintenance Driver, you will be responsible for driving a Winter Maintenance Gritting Vehicle within Area 9. Your duties will include being on standby throughout the winter maintenance season, good time keeping is essential. You will undertake the gritting of the roads on your allocated route and all the associated activities required to deliver the Winter Service, for example washing down the vehicle and equipment, fuelling up, keeping good records. You will be committed to working in a team to keep the Area 9 Network safe during the Winter season.

Main Responsibilities

The Winter Maintenance Drivers will be appointed on a temporary contract to cover the Winter Maintenance season. This may be extended if the weather is of a poor nature at the time. We are looking for suitable candidates to work on a zero-hour contract basis on PAYE.

The hours will vary per week depending on call outs. Decision making for morning and evenings are generally made on a lunchtime however there will be an expectation that you could take a phone call at any time and respond to the callout.

The ideal candidate will have a full UK driving licence with HGV Class 2 (category C) entitlement and a full CPC is essential. A valid Winter Maintenance qualification is desirable but not essential as training will be provided for suitable applicants. The ability to get to Strensham or Coleshill Depot, within 1 hours' notice is required.
