Electrification Systems Expert

We are seeking a highly experienced Electrification Systems Expert to join our client's team in London. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the design of substations, switching structures, construction compounds, and lineside cable routes/structures within rail electrification projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage technical delivery and ensure compliance with relevant railway and electrification standards, including NR/L2/ELP/27237 and NR/L2/ELP/27245
  • Work closely with clients, contractors, and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure successful project execution, meeting project goals and timelines
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
  • Ensure quality assurance and risk management are integrated into the project lifecycle, meeting safety, regulatory, and environmental standards
  • Act as the technical point of contact for clients and stakeholders, delivering technical presentations and reports
  • Review and approve technical documents, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project specifications
  • Contribute to bids and proposals with technical insights to help secure new work
Requirements:
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent
  • Extensive experience in railway electrification and systems, with expertise in designing substations, switching structures, construction compounds, and lineside cable routes/structures
  • Proven experience in major rail projects within the UK, ideally with exposure to CP5, CP6, and CP7 frameworks
  • Strong knowledge of Network Rail standards, specifications, and procedures related to electrification and power systems
  • Experience managing technical teams and leading engineering design on complex railway infrastructure projects
  • Ideal previous CRE (Contractors Responsible Engineer) experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure
  • Willingness to travel to project sites across the Midlands as required
