Position Overview: Unilabs is looking for a proficient and knowledgeable Biomedical Scientist specializing in Histology. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the efficient operation of the laboratory while delivering a high-quality histopathology service. Collaboration with the Histology Manager and fellow histology professionals will be essential to guarantee the prompt and precise processing of specimens and the timely delivery of results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receiving, logging, and processing specimens
  • Sectioning, staining, and sending out specimens
  • Ensuring quality control and accuracy of laboratory outputs
  • Archiving and maintaining samples
  • Engaging in training programs and ongoing professional development
  • Adhering to health and safety regulations and safe laboratory practices
  • Performing specimen dissection (subject to appropriate training and competency)

Qualifications:

  • HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist and member of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences
  • Prior experience in a histology laboratory setting
  • Expertise in microtomy and embedding techniques
  • A minimum of 2 years of post-registration experience
  • Strong understanding of histological methods
  • Familiarity with laboratory IT systems
  • Experience with accreditation processes is advantageous
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
