Procurement Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Officer or Trainee Procurement Officer to join our Procurement, Commercial and Contract Management Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out effective purchasing of goods, works and services on behalf of Argyll and Bute Council, and managing contracts with suppliers to ensure best value is achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procure goods, works and services in accordance with Council policies and procedures
- Manage contracts with suppliers to ensure best value is achieved
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with suppliers
- Contribute to the development of procurement strategies and policies
- Provide procurement advice and guidance to colleagues
Requirements:
- Candidates must have achieved their CIPS Level 4 qualification and be willing to or already working towards achieving their CIPS Level 5 qualification
- Trainee Procurement Officer post is a temporary post till July 2026
- Both posts are full-time, but requests for alternative work patterns will be considered
