Job Title: Classroom Assistant - Special Educational Needs

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Classroom Assistant to join our team at the Education Authority. As a Classroom Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of children with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the teacher in planning and delivering lessons to children with special educational needs.
  • Assist with the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior support plans.
  • Provide one-to-one support to children with special educational needs, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to develop and implement strategies to support children with special educational needs.
  • Contribute to the creation of a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements:
  • Hold a minimum of a Level 2 childcare qualification as approved by the Education Authority.
  • Have a minimum of six months' paid experience of working with children in a formal learning environment.
  • Evidence of a working knowledge of information technology systems, including Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to work flexibly and creatively to support children with special educational needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven team working and collaborative skills.
  • Effective planning and organizing skills to ensure work is completed on time to the required standard.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Have a minimum of one year's paid experience of working with children with special educational needs.
  • Have a minimum of six months' paid experience working as a Classroom Assistant with children with special educational needs.

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure of Criminal Background check.
