Battery Systems Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Battery Systems Specialist to join our team at Aston Martin. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for the on-time specification and delivery of contactors, fuses, and other devices required to electrically isolate the HV Battery systems.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the definition of parameters required to source current-breaking devices within the HV Battery systems, both for in-house developments and evaluating solutions provided by engineering partners.
- Responsible for the electrothermal performance of given components, as well as the management of any other component in the HV Battery coming from the same supplier.
- Deliver contactors, relays, pyro fuses, and current sensing devices for all in-house battery developments, as well as reviewing and assessing developments provided by our engineering partners.
- Release process of given components, as well as similar components that could be provided by the same supplier.
- Electrothermal modeling and behavior of specified components, and integration in the HV Battery System.
- Sizing and troubleshooting of parts both at supplier's Design Verification (DV) and vehicle prototype level.
- Cascading thermal behavior vs mission profile to program.
- Functional safety assessment and impact on components sourced.
- Manufacturability and serviceability of solutions proposed alongside the Principal Engineer.
- Supplier management: requirement cascade, quality control, DV, logistics.
- Simulation data coordination, working closely with the wider Aston Martin Simulation team.
- Task tracking, weekly program status report as part of the Battery working group.
- Fault and defect analysis: lessons learned and default management, using quality processes for the automotive industry.
- Quality: delivery within an Automotive Production Part Approval Process (APQP), six sigma, or similar framework.
- Experience within the automotive industry or similar domain experience.
- Contactor/Fuse coordination strategy definition and implementation in a customer-oriented HV Battery pack.
- Use of PyroFuse as part of safety case.
- Supplier management experience: content definition and sequence of DV & PV for A/B/C sample.
- Familiar with the Automotive release process.
- Leadership of product development projects from early R&D to series production.
- Experience on full vehicle delivery, from concept to mass production.
- Other battery component design experience, such as busbars, connectors, etc.
- DFMEA delivery experience.
- Automotive electrical design and development.
- Experience with CAD (NX, CATIA), Mentor, or similar toolset.
- Engineering Degree in Electrical, Electronic, and/or related field.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, self-motivated, eager to take responsibility and deliver results with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated experience in cross-functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize multiple inputs into succinct summary.
- Accomplished writer of technical and project status reports.
- Fluent presenter of technical information at all levels, including to senior director level at Aston Martin and in external companies.
- Ability to challenge experts, consultants, and seniors by presenting measured opinion.
- Passion for the advancement of hybrid and electric powertrain and vehicle technology.
