Annual Salary Range: £52,549 - £58,595

Work Location: London (Hybrid working model)

Weekly Working Hours: 35 hours

This essential position involves navigating the intricate landscape of international research compliance, assisting the Director of Research in formulating policies that adhere to UK Export Control and security regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage security compliance for international research partnerships, ensuring that the university's global research activities uphold the highest standards of legality and integrity.
  • Support faculties in conducting due diligence, securing export licenses, and handling NSI notifications, while also creating thorough training programs to mitigate risks associated with international research.
  • Address issues related to education and technology commercialization, proactively managing international collaboration challenges.
  • Work in conjunction with Professional Service teams, including the Global Engagement Office, Academic Registry, and Business Development, to maintain a strong commitment to research integrity.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Physical Engineering or Law.
  • Demonstrated experience in research security and export control compliance within higher education institutions or the defense sector.
  • Understanding of the broader issues and risks linked to international research, with a proven track record in developing actionable guidance to assess and mitigate these risks.
  • Experience in preparing and submitting export control license applications, as well as monitoring compliance with license stipulations, including practical knowledge of the SPIRE system.
  • Familiarity with the NSI Act and the processes for both mandatory and voluntary notifications.
