About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Director to join our team at Land Securities. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for managing, preparing, reviewing, and delivering the Group's corporation/income tax obligations within deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the external tax audit process and ensure all corporate, income tax, CIS, payroll, WHT, and VAT payments are made to HMRC.
  • Support the finance team in processing direct and indirect tax journals and tax reconciliations.
  • Support tax assistants in preparing tax calculations and providing ad hoc tax advice to the Group.
  • Manage the Group's country-by-country obligations and senior accounting officer requirements.
  • Assist the Head of Tax in external tax compliance engagements and internal business partners, covering capital allowances, R&D, tax software, tax knowledge, and general tax compliance requirements.
  • Manage SDLT return submissions and monitoring of contingent liabilities that could crystallize.
  • VAT compliance, including preparing or reviewing VAT returns and ad hoc Group VAT obligations.
  • Support the People team on employment tax matters, including P11Ds, PSA, and ERS HMRC reporting.
  • Liaise with HMRC on tax compliance matters and HMRC enquiries where applicable.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining tax forecasting for each entity and ensuring any tax implications are understood, identifying when action needs to be taken, and communicating to the wider finance team at the right time.
  • Support the Head of Tax on property transactions at Land Securities, considering all taxation issues on proposed transactions, considering structure options, and producing tax-efficient recommendations.
  • Assist in tax due diligence information requests raised on new deal acquisitions/disposals.
  • Review tax structure reports and implement post-transaction steps.
  • Work with the Head of Tax and internal/external counsel to mitigate tax issues in legal documents.

Requirements:

  • ACA/ACA/CTA qualified or have a similar relevant qualification.
  • Extensive tax experience with an ability to manage projects and teams.
  • UK REIT or real estate tax experience.
  • Corporation tax compliance experience working on a mixed and large group of companies.
  • Alphatax knowledge, understanding of finance systems, and keen to embrace innovative technology.
