Job Title: Environmental and Safety Engineer

Location: Barrow-In-Furness

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Environmental and Safety Engineer to join our Product Environmental team. As an Environmental Specialist, you will be responsible for gathering, assessing, and reporting environmental information to support the environmental case for our submarines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support system owners with design of systems
  • Undertake environmental impact and risk assessments
  • Collate evidence and produce documents to support the environmental case
  • Support net zero and carbon management/foot printing activities
  • Engage with stakeholders across organisations and disciplines to ensure customer requirements are met

Requirements:

  • Understanding of sustainability and environmental requirements in product design
  • Understanding of environmental assessment and identification of environmental aspects across the lifecycle
  • Ability to evaluate environmental and technical data
  • Understanding of net zero and carbon management/foot printing
  • Report writing/presentation skills and ability to effectively convey environmental information
  • Degree or equivalent in Environmental or Sustainability related discipline

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Product Environmental Team, an ever-growing area within the business. You will be joining a small team of 7 members and supporting both SSNA and Dreadnought Programmes. You will engage with System owners, legislation team, sustainability department, as well as customers. Within this role, there will be opportunities for further training and career progression.
