Position Overview

This role requires a commitment of at least 25 hours per week across five days, with opportunities for full-time positions available.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will:

  • Contribute to the delivery of phlebotomy services
  • Manage laboratory samples effectively
  • Conduct urinalysis
  • Perform ECG recordings
  • Provide patient chaperoning

About Our Practice

Situated in a modern medical facility, we are a training practice with a well-established clinical team that includes:

  • Two GP Partners
  • One Advanced Nurse Practitioner Partner
  • Four Salaried GPs
  • Additional GP Registrars/F2s
  • Three Practice Nurses
  • One Trainee Nurse Associate
  • Three Health Care Assistants
  • One Senior Practice Pharmacist
  • One Pharmacy Technician
  • One First Contact Physiotherapist
  • One Mental Health Practitioner

We serve a patient list of approximately 12,000 individuals and utilize the SystmOne clinical system. Our practice employs the Ardens template toolkit to ensure structured and standardized clinical consultations, with remote consultations available when suitable.

Job Duties

The successful candidate will provide essential support to the clinical team, working closely with Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the provision of phlebotomy services
  • Managing laboratory samples
  • Conducting urinalysis
  • Performing ECG recordings
  • Chaperoning patients
  • Cleaning and sterilizing instruments and equipment
  • Maintaining equipment and keeping records of checks and calibrations

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Documenting patient consultations in the clinical system
  • Maintaining accurate records to ensure continuity and quality of care
  • Participating in practice development and identifying service improvements
  • Handling administrative duties and appointment records
  • Engaging in ongoing training to maintain personal competency
  • Participating in activities required for CQC registration

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications:

  • Good standard of general education, including Maths and English at Grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • Health and Social Care qualification such as Care Certificate or NVQ Level 2 or 3
  • Minimum of two years post-qualification experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Good understanding of spoken and written English
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Proactive and uses initiative
  • Knowledge of the current General Practice environment
  • Understanding of Clinical Governance issues in Primary Care
  • Familiarity with Health Promotion strategies

Desirable Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience working in General Practice
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary team setting
  • Knowledge of TPP SystmOne Clinical System
  • Familiarity with Ardens templates
  • Ability to apply learning in practice and share knowledge with others
