Job Title: Deputy Director of Public Health

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director of Public Health to join our team at NHS England. As a key member of our Public Health Directorate, you will play a critical role in driving improvements in population health and reducing health inequalities across the region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight to the Public Health Directorate, ensuring the delivery of high-quality public health services and advice to NHS England and local authorities.
  • Develop and implement effective public health strategies to improve population health and reduce health inequalities, working closely with local authorities, ICBs, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide expert advice and support to NHS England and local authorities on public health matters, including commissioning and commissioning decisions.
  • Lead on public health support and advice to commissioning, ensuring that commissioning is underpinned by a focus on evidence-based clinical needs, outcomes, and quality.
  • Work closely with the Regional Director of Public Health to develop and implement the regional public health strategy, ensuring alignment with national priorities and objectives.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in public health leadership and management, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality public health services and advice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field, such as public health, health policy, or a related discipline.
