Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate individual to join our Student Services team as a Student Support Specialist. As the first point of contact for students and staff, you will provide a supportive and non-judgmental environment for students to discuss their wellbeing concerns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first-line response to student wellbeing issues, including non-engagement and general wellbeing concerns.
  • Act as a liaison between faculties and Student Services to address student concerns.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with students, staff, and external partners to promote a culture of support and inclusivity.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to identify and implement strategies to improve student engagement and wellbeing.
  • Provide guidance and support to students on academic and personal issues, including referrals to relevant services.

Requirements:

  • Experience in addressing and providing first-line response to welfare issues for adult learners and vulnerable groups.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including empathy, understanding of professional boundaries, and ability to work within these at all times.
  • Good understanding of confidentiality and data protection issues.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment, remaining calm and composed under pressure.
  • Excellent communication, literacy, and IT skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
