Senior Proposal Manager - Automation
Bilfinger UK is a leading engineering and maintenance provider, supporting customers across various industries. Our commitment is delivered by an experienced and highly competent workforce, upholding the highest standards of safety, compliance, and quality.
We have extensive experience in offshore and onshore facilities, specialising in asset management services throughout all life cycle phases. This includes consulting, engineering, manufacturing, assembly, operations, maintenance, and decommissioning.
The successful candidate will carry out proposal and estimating activities for single and multi-discipline proposals to support Bilfinger UK's business strategy. They will help maintain an up-to-date body of knowledge for proposals and support junior members of the proposal team.
Main Responsibilities
• Carry out proposal and estimating activities
• Take full responsibility for assigned proposals, leading and managing to deliver high-quality proposals in a timely manner that reflect agreed strategies and are compliant with relevant procedures
• Actively seek relevant input from others required to develop proposal, recognising strengths and weaknesses of self and others
• Work with 'operations' to develop and agree execution concepts
• Obtain third-party input as appropriate
• Ensure all work is compliant with Bilfinger procedures
• Initiate checks and reviews to ensure quality of work
• Actively liaise with clients for information, clarifications, site visits, negotiations, and feedback
• Proactively support proposals managed by others
• Provide estimation and execution inputs
• Support proposal strategy development
• Carry out reviews and checks of proposal work by others
• Work in a structured and organised way and support others in this
• Act as Bid Manager reporting to UK Proposals Manager or Head of Proposals for specific assigned proposals
Maintain Body of Knowledge
• Responsible for developing and maintaining a clear and reasoned set of norms relevant to discipline as part of the overall proposal department information
• Maintain knowledge of relevant current technology, standards, and execution approaches
• Support development of proposal tools (e.g. estimating tools, procedures)
Support Others
• Provide coaching to others on estimating techniques
• Support junior team members in planning and managing proposals
• Review proposals and provide constructive feedback
Experience & Qualifications
• 10+ years proposal and estimating experience (or similar)
• Experience includes contracting in areas such as oil & gas, nuclear, utilities, power
• Expected to be degree qualified in appropriate engineering or numerical discipline, or suitably experienced through working in relevant discipline
