About the Role:

RPS Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Water Resources Modeller to lead our team in providing modelling, calibration, and analytical support on a range of clean water projects.

About the Team:

Our Water Resources Modelling team is a group of experienced professionals who provide asset management and operational strategy development to our water industry clients. We work on a diverse portfolio of projects, including data collection and analytics, modelling and risk analysis, and feasibility studies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical development and delivery of clean water hydraulic models, including model construction and calibration, model use studies, optioneering, and analysis studies.
  • Leadership of modelling project teams delivering a diverse portfolio of water infrastructure projects.
  • Line management of project team members, including day-to-day leadership, direction, workload planning, and prioritization.
  • Ensuring quality of modelling outputs and compliance with standards, specifications, and governance requirements.
  • Accountable for commercial performance and forecasting of projects, and the production of bids and proposals.
  • Building and maintaining strong and collaborative working relationships with clients.
  • Continual improvement of modelling tools, procedures, and processes to drive efficiency and innovation.
  • Maintaining and reporting on an overall programme of work and associated resource demands.
  • Developing and improving relationships and collaboration with other internal RPS modelling teams.
  • Contribution to commercial performance, forecasting, and risk management, and the production of bids and proposals.
  • Management of all health and safety, quality, and environmental aspects of projects.

About You:

  • Preferably a degree-qualified professional in a relevant technical subject, with postgraduate qualifications an advantage.
  • Experience in water modelling using InfoWorks WS, Synergi Water, or similar.
  • Proficiency in MS 365 applications, including advanced Excel and Visual Basic.
  • Working knowledge of GIS systems, preferably MapInfo, ArcGIS, or QGIS.
  • Deep expertise in hydraulic modelling and/or related water infrastructure areas, taking responsibility for delivery of specialist, complex, or innovative projects.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage staff at all levels, including line management of less experienced colleagues.
  • Ability to build, lead, and motivate a team both internally and in partnership with external clients.
  • Ability to manage (or support project managers to manage) small to large modelling projects/packages and programmes of work.

Desirable:

  • Chartered membership (or working towards with demonstrable experience) of relevant professional institutions, such as CIWEM, IOW, or ICE.
  • Hold a full clean driving license.
