Project Manager Job Description

Westlakes Recruit is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team on a contract basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering key projects in the nuclear sector, working closely with stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Define, plan, track, and manage projects to deliver key objectives
  • Lead project resources to ensure project objectives are accomplished
  • Escalate project exceptions through governance processes
  • Build and manage relationships with stakeholders across the portfolio team, project teams, and external stakeholders
  • Monitor project spending and report variances using Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques
  • Establish and maintain weekly reporting, including regular internal and external team meetings
  • Prepare meeting packs/presentations, capturing minutes, agreed actions, and updating teams and senior management
  • Positively influence key stakeholders associated with the project
  • Develop and maintain project documentation templates
  • Ensure all project deliverables are completed in line with the schedule
  • Identify potential dependencies, assumptions, risks, exceptions, opportunities (DAREO), project problems, mitigation contingencies, and implement corrective actions
  • Highlight where updates or escalations are required
  • Play an active part in Lessons Identified process across all projects and embed a culture of continuous improvement
  • Maintain established processes and develop new as required
  • Take ownership and pride in your work and promoting project management success through the team
  • Manage proposed changes to project parameters - e.g. scope, budget, schedules
  • Monitor the quality of project deliverables and ensure project objectives are met
  • Conduct project meetings and attend programme and portfolio meetings where required
  • Establish effective working relationships with all key stakeholders
Qualifications/Prerequisites:
  • Degree (or working to) in Project Management (desirable)
  • APM Project Management Qualification (desirable)
  • Knowledge of NEC3 contracts (desirable)
  • Proven experience of delivering projects to time, cost, and quality
  • Successful experience of translating analysis into practical implementation
  • Proficient with the full Microsoft Office suite
  • Schedule baseline creation and management
  • Detail orientated, high standard of accuracy & quality
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A strong team-player
  • A drive to succeed
